It is a sign of the strength of the men's section at present that we were able to put out a 27 man squad to face Tring 3s, a hastily arranged friendly opposition after Watford 2XV were unable to raise a side for the Merit Table fixture.

Hitchin headed into Half time 15-5 up, with tries scored by Fly Half Tom Kerr, Hooker Marcus Moore and Centre Jerm (surname unknown, Uni accomplice of Kerr!). Now facing a chilly easterly breeze, Hitchin were unable to add to their tally in the second half, and Tring edged the encounter with their three tries and one conversion. It was a competitive match played with great spirits, and the more experienced team won out in the end.

This is a result that mirrors our last match with Tring four years ago, the only difference being that it was a Hitchin 2XV back then, whereas it is now a Hitchin 3XV. Next Saturday they make the short trip to Weston for a Merit Table fixture.
