The girls' had a trip today to Fullerians for the last round in the Bucks South East League before the finals.

With numbers lower than usual, OAs very graciously provided 2 players on a rotational basis for each of our matches (thank you OAs). We started with a match vs Harpenden-Datchworth who had many girls who have played less rugby than our players. Our attack proved too strong for them and we won the game comfortably. I'm not sure Ailsa picking a smaller girl up while Isabella ripped the ball off her and scored a try was the best introduction to our wonderful sport but I'm sure it will build character in the long run. Evie scored a lovely try in the corner, Georgia forced her way through the middle for another and Isabella wasn't shy in racking her try count up.

The second match against OAs was likely to be a much tougher draw, and so it proved. Their girls attack, defend and ruck very hard and it was a great tussle between two well-matched teams. Their fly-half scored a beauty down the left touch line to get the scoreboard moving but Hitchin struck back with two tries from Ailsa; one with most of their team hanging off her which required Isabella to help get her over the line and the other from a lovely break and pass from Flo. OAs weren't out of the game though and they pulled one back to even the scope before Ailsa made another break and got over the line. It looked like we'd won but OAs managed to score again with more strong running and the game ended on a draw. What a great game!

The final match of the day was against our hosts Fullerians. Again we had the support of two OA players and they played excellently for us, putting two tries on the board on the left wing. Ailsa, Isabella and Flo crossed the whitewash for a try each without their opponents scoring in return so a good end to the day: 2 wins and 1 draw.

Many great performances again across the board but Hog of the Week goes to Isabella for always being the first to the breakdown, clearing out so many rucks, strength in attack with ball-in-hand, ripping the ball several times for turnovers and supporting play. Great work Isabella!
