On Saturday 11th January, our U14 girls squad spent the day at Saracens StoneX stadium. In the morning, on the frosty 3G pitch, they took part on a round-robin contact festival with other local and not-so-local clubs. Our girls were tested thoroughly in several of the games, which was what their coaches were wanting (mwa ha ha), and came away with 2 wins out of 5. The stronger teams, who we don't usually play, complimented their strong tackling: good girls.
After some lunch and downtime, we all watched the Saracens vs Leicester Tigers PWR match, which was slightly one-sided at 100-0, but still good for our players to watch. Saracens invited 2 players from each girls squad to take part on a crossbar challenge at half-time. Flo Emmerson and Mabel White, our resident kickers, put themselves forward. True to form, Mabel hit the crossbar with her first kick and pocketed 2 tickets to the next PWR match at StoneX. Not to be outdone, a minute later Flo hit the bar as well and got herself 2 tickets as well. Brilliant kicking girls!
The day was finished off with meeting Saracens players, including internationals Marlie Packer, Poppy Cleall and May Campbell and getting their autographs and selfies. A wicked day all round, thanks Saracens.
